Laquan Flowers and Mark Phillips Injured in George Street Shooting
A pair of twenty-year-old men received various degrees of injury following a shooting incident on George Street on Sunday morning. Laquan Flowers and Mark Phillips were reportedly at a residence sometime shortly before midday when a grey sports utility vehicle drove up from the direction of Racecourse Street. One of the occupants of the S.U.V. produced a firearm and began shooting into the group of persons gathered at the residence. During the shooting, Flowers was injured in the right leg. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett shared the details.

“Yesterday’s date, sometime around 11:45 a.m., police officers were notified of a shooting incident on George Street, Belize City, where they visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and observed one Laquan Flowers, twenty-years-old, and Mark Phillips, twenty-years-old, both with gunshot injuries to the lower body. What was reported to the police is that these two individuals along with others were socializing at a residence on George Street when they were approached by persons in a grey in color SUV and one person in that vehicle fired several shots at them, causing the injuries. So far police have several persons in custody and based on the investigation at this point charges will be preferred against one of those persons later on today.”
